EHL was quoted in two newspapers on the Foothill tollroad’s latest permit denial.

On March 17, 2015, the Los Angeles Times reported on how the San Diego Regional Water Quality Control Board turned down the Transportation Corridor Agency’s attempt to build the Foothill tollroad in segments (“$200-million Orange County tollway project stalls”). "This is a major setback for them because they are unable to build the project as a whole and they cannot build it in phases," said Dan Silver, executive director of the Endangered Habitats League.

In an article setting the stage for the Water Board hearing, the San Diego Reader noted the threat posed by the tollroad to Trestles surfing beach (“Fight, surfers, fight!” March 5, 2015), and also turned to EHL for its perspective. "The Tessoro Extension has no other purpose but to be the northern section of the toll road we defeated," said Dan Silver of the Habitat League. "It's not a stand-alone. It has no value except as part of the larger toll road, and it puts their foot in the door so they can push it open later."
