Prelude – Deep in the forest
the silence of a lone tree
offered its green song
Boughs – Winter’s splintered sun
chants amid the evergreens
moss-solemn chorales
Leaves – Spring and its rains sing
with the tears of creation
a refrain of trees
Trunks – The trees rise, stretching
by branch song and choirs of leaf
up from summer soil
Roots – Fall’s sweetness runs deep
where interwoven roots grow
slow passacaglias
Ensemble – Limbs bending with the wind
rainfall and flowing seasons
