EHL’s role in Inland Empire land use was cited.

The Los Angeles Times ("Warehouse advance in Riverside County threatens rural lifestyle: 'Where does it stop?'" October 17, 2024) reported on controversial proposed conversions of residential land to warehouses. A feature of the Riverside General Plan, for which EHL advocated in 2003, limits certain changes in the plan to periodic cycles. As EHL explained,

The process was designed to provide county leaders with the opportunity to take a comprehensive look at rezoning proposals, and “look at the bigger picture instead of piecemealing it,” said Dan Silver, executive director of the Endangered Habitats League.

The County decided to revisit this system, but neighborhood groups objected. EHL will participate in future discussions if they occur.
